Young brothers and sisters of St. Catherine’s! Praised be Jesus Christ! I hope that each one of you is being blessed in this time of fasting and return to the Merciful Lord.

Archbishop Charles has called us to fill this parish with the joy and the charisms that the Lord has placed in our Community. We want to invite you, our younger crowd, to be at the heart of this “renewal”. Many in our residential community have this call to leave everything–family, salaries, and personal agenda–to follow Christ. Most of you have the lay call, rather, to faithfulness and responsibility these goods. But, though none of us is worthy, Christ calls and enables each of us to a radical love and trust in Him and in His Church. We want to urge you to make sacrifices of your goods and time, and to make of your self each day a sacrifice of praise to His Glory!

The Lord is blessing us in so many ways: the stunning new adoration chapel that Fr. Seraphim built, where so many of us are being drawn deeper in our personal intimacy with Jesus; with the joyful spirit of the 11:30 Sunday Mass; with the band and the dances for our Youth and Family Mass; with our Wednesday evening dinner and praise; with our project of reaching out to all the families of our neighborhood. We would love to know what your desires are to join us in these projects and times of worship, and what your hopes are for growing in your relationship with God.

We have planned several moments for our Lord to take us deeper in his love. The first is a day of prayer and teaching next Saturday, March 10th. Fr. Sebastien will talk about turning back to the Lord and about experiencing the His mercy during Lent.

For Holy Week, all of us at the Beatitudes will dedicate ourselves to the music and liturgy to help the parish enter into the Lord’s Paschal Mystery. In addition to the Catholic liturgy, we celebrate a Jewish Seder Meal, and we add an evening of a Byzantine tradition of experiencing how Mary Magdalene anointed Jesus at Bethany.

St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church Denver, CO - FIRE weekendIn April, we’ll have our critically acclaimed
FIRE weekend. It will be a weekend spent with the community–our priests, nuns, and families of the Beatitudes. We live day-to-day together, trying to live out in this special way Christ’s call to praise Him and to be charity to one another. Every weekend is a celebration of the mystery of Christ’s Passion and Resurrection, and some of our prayers adapt the prayer of Jewish homes–their praises and strong families are an inspiration to us, and we love their song and dance. We also have a particular way of invoking the Holy Spirit to come and pray in us and fill our lives with His joy and graces. We want to share this with young people, and with the several young couples who have begun frequenting St. Catherine’s. The retreat will be April 13-15, and there is requested donation and limited space.

Please let me know soon if you are interested in one of the retreats, if you have other ways you want to join us, and if you want to make an appointment to chat with Fr. Sebastien or myself. Every week, Wednesday and Saturday evenings are times when we welcome guests for a potluck and a time of praise and celebration. Some people come each week, some drop in. Call me or email when you can come. These are times of powerful prayer and fun evenings for us to get to know you better. Bring a family or friend!
